Made In Mexico Campaign

With the current global trade wars going on, Coca-Cola has joined other large companies that are incorporating the Made in Mexico seal on their products aimed at strengthening the consumption of national products.

The Government of Mexico launched the “Made in Mexico” initiative as part of the Mexico Plan, serving as the spearhead of its strategy to strengthen the consumption and recognition of national products and services.

The movement aims to encourage local consumption and increase consumer confidence in domestically made products, thereby boosting national economic growth and job creation.

Mexico and the United States have long been engaged in a trade war over sugar. Sugar is big business in many parts of the world, especially for Mexico who uses cane sugar in their Coca-Cola recipe which some soda lovers say makes it taste better. Coke products made in the US use high-fructose corn syrup which is affordable and widely available.

Another attraction to Mexican Coca-Cola is the iconic bottle in which it comes, also known as the contour bottle whose original inspiration was a cocoa pod.

To help bolster sales Coca-Cola domestically, the brand launched this two-sided merchandiser in supermarkets across the US. The wood floor display was decorated in Coca-Cola’s red color, often referred to as Coke Red, which is synonymous with the brand and has its origins in the early days of the company when barrels were painted red to distinguish them from alcohol during transport, particularly during the Prohibition era.

A four-sided riser topped off the display with the Coke logo and the Hecho En Mexico tagline.
